Am just about to embark on the 28 day plan. Am 59 years old and really cross with myself that my weight has crept up to 12 stone over the last year. I am 5ft 81/2 (don't forget the 1/2!) so maybe that extra stone doesn't show but I know! Even more upset as have given up alcohol (44 days) without losing anything!! I don't intend to go back to drinking either as sleep is soooooo much better. I start back at gym classes today too, so hopefully that will help too. Just wanted to ask a quick question. Can you have any extra veg with dishes if they don't fill you up-I am a veggie??

Absolutely great Frances. You will definitely see results if you follow the 28 day plan! Many people starting the plan fear they will be hungry because it seem like a lot less calories to what they are used to but from the feedback I've had, because the recipes are nutritious and balanced they have been pleasantly surprised. For best results it's better to try and stick to no snacks and no alcohol (not a problem for you!) on Light Days on Regular Days there is much more wriggle room. If you have a bit of extra veg at meals that really won't be too much of a problem as they are naturally very low in calories (check the appendix on p287), just don't toss them in oil or butter!! If anyone else has been on the plan and has any encouragement for Frances please do chip in!
Glad you mentioned the giving up alcohol situ - that saves me feeling the need to give it up!
Yes, no need to give up altogether but would avoid on a Light Day so you can stick to the 800 cals!
Hi Frances,
I did the 28 day plan earlier this year and like you wanted to add extra veg but I didn't if the Light day was already 800 cals. What sticking to the plan did for me was make me re-evaluate portion size and like Sam says do Volume control. The recipes were more filling than you think and it was very easy to stick to a veggie menu as so many of the recipes were plant based. I would recommend if you have time to do a cooking session - soups for lunch and the Lentil, olive stew, black bean chilli, bean provenale for suppers all freeze really well. I did the Go to Granola as that does several breakfasts if I'm in a rush with Greek yog and fruit and when I have more time I try something different like the green pancakes! The shopping lists are really useful! Good luck!
Sarah
